This file lists known bugs and problems with tn3270 version 2.3d26. If you discover a problem not listed here, please report it to the author, using the address information in the tn3270 documentation.
1. Problem description:
When a large screen format (larger than 24 by 80) has been selected, running some applications will cause the screen to revert to the 24 by 80 size, which results in a slight delay while tn3270 adjusts the window size and position.
Explanation:
Some host applications do not support large screen sizes, and issue 3270 Erase/Write commands instead of Erase/Write Alternate which is required for the larger screen size. tn3270's default action in this case is to create a 24 by 80 window until the next EWA command is issued.
Solution or circumvention:
Select "Use one size for both formats" in the "Screen Format" item of the "Settings" menu. This will cause tn3270 to always use the same window, even if the application is currently using only part of it. Alternatively, in some cases it may be possible to add support for large screens to the host application.
2. Problem description:
When a color is changed using the "Colors" item of the "Settings" menu, the new color is not used for drawing in the terminal window.
Explanation:
tn3270 uses the Palette Manager for color control. If a requested color is not used for drawing, it is because the Palette Manager has already used all the available color table slots for higher priority requests.
Solution or circumvention:
Verify that the "exact colors" box is checked in the "Colors" dialog. This causes tn3270 to request color table changes to match the selected colors, instead of using the closest entries in the current color table. If the colors are still not correct, if possible use the "Monitors" item in the Control Panel to set a larger number of colors. Otherwise, try saving the new settings, re-booting the Mac, and restarting tn3270 with the saved settings.
3. Problem description:
When the "Moire" screen saver is used, after it the makes the screen go black, no patterns are drawn.
Explanation:
This problem is under investigation. It is unclear whether the problem is due to Moire or to tn3270.
Solution or circumvention:
None.
4. Problem description:
If a tn3270 settings file is resaved, its color on the desktop is not preserved, and becomes black.
Explanation:
This is normal when the standard sequence of file system calls is used to write a file. Extra calls are needed to preserve the color, and may be included in a future version of tn3270.
